VPS - the benefits of a Dedicated Server for a fraction of the price

A Linux Virtual Private Server (VPS) is ideal for web site designers, hosting companies, small to medium businesses and hobbyists who need full control of an Internet server (or just want to experiment with one) but without the costs normally associated with renting or buying their own dedicated physical server. For an experienced system administrator, a virtual private server has all the important advantages of a dedicated physical server - you have full root access, can install whatever software you want and modify operating system and application configuration to your heart's content. Choose a Linux VPS to match your needs today

We currently offer several different basic VPS specifications for you to chose from, each of which can be customised to your requirements with the addition of extra IPs, disks space, Plesk licenses, security options and much more (see the next section).

You can also upgrade your VPS from one specification to another at any time after you sign up, without you having to re-install or re-configure any software or data. This is another advantage of choosing a VPS over a physical server - it can grow with you.

All our Linux VPS products are powered by Dell servers with either two Dual-core or one Quad-Core Intel Xeon CPUs with RAID5 or RAID1-protected disks and are located in UK Data Centres. We use Plesk** hosting software to make them easier to manage.

As well as processing power, reliability and disk space, in our opinion one of the most important things to look at when comparing VPS products is the amount of Guaranteed RAM they have. Depending on the applications you run and how busy your VPS is, running out of RAM can result in it slowing to a crawl, despite having plenty of processing power and disk space available.

Standard features and optional extras

All of our Linux VPS choices include a long list of features as standard, but you can customise them by adding optional extras to match your needs. These options can be added when you sign up or at any time afterwards.

In particular we'd like to draw your attention to our Server Management option, where we take care of helping to better secure your VPS and regularly installing operating system security and bug fix updates for you, and to the Atomic Security option which provides you with a robust and largely automatic application security layer for your VPS, which helps prevent hackers and script kiddies from taking advantage of vulnerable or poorly coded scripts. For advanced users we can also offer a Secondary DNS service and custom rDNS address options.
